Africa Education Watch (Eduwatch) has called for the setting up of a national committee of inquiry to investigate examination malpractice in Ghana. The call follows GhProbe’s findings of examination malpractice in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Eduwatch described findings of GhProbe investigations as a revelation of systemic lapses that compromise the credibility of Ghana’s external assessment system and questions the integrity of the examination that serves as the gateway to further education.

They made the call in a statement released today, September 10, 2025, where they called on the authorities to focus on systemic resolution rather than an incidental response that only punishes culprits in affected schools while leaving the root causes unattended to.

They called on the Education Ministry to, as a matter of urgency, establish a high-level committee of inquiry to investigate the full scope and dimension of examination malpractice across the country.

Eduwatch further Emphasized the need to propose comprehensive reforms to strengthen the integrity of external assessment in addition to establishing the extent of exam malpractice and the enablers of the act.
